About the event

Title: Safety in the Lion’s Mouth: Exploring Asian American Poetry, Justice, and Faith

Course Description:

This May, in honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, AUMC Palo Alto invites you to join us for a series of four intergenerational workshops on Asian American poetry and faith. Each week, by placing scripture in conversation with work by contemporary Asian American poets, we’ll investigate and respond in writing to questions of identity, justice, memory, solidarity, and belonging. In a time when free speech; birthright citizenship; the safety of immigrants; and the very notions of equity, diversity, and inclusion are being challenged, we’ll take shelter together in the Word and will explore how Asian Americans may find an avenue of faithful resistance in art and on the page.

This course is open to both adults and youth in sixth grade and up. All are welcome, regardless of background, skill, or…
